may be i was in love with a dream that was never meant to be mine

 They say happiness comes to those who deserve it.

Maybe I did not deserve it or maybe,
I just didn’t know how to hold onto it.
There was not much I could look back on and say;
yes, that made me happy.

You were one of the very first things that made me smile.
I felt so lucky for the very first time.
I used to tell my friends about you.
I used to describe your every smile and your every gesture. There were days when they looked at me
and called me silly but I did not care,
for my eyes could only see you.

You were my every bit of happiness.
You kept me close and gifted me your warmth.
You looked at me and called me worthy.

Oh darling, you did so much and yet,
we did not last the way we wish we had.

Maybe happiness and love are only meant for dreamers. Maybe I was in love with a dream
that was never meant to be mine... ✨
